autumn conference round-up

As 2019 draws to a close we reflect on a positive year, with several lucky winners of our famous Chocoholic’s Survival Kits, many happy faces when people see our chocolate mountain and of course the insightful conversations on SQN Health’s technology ecosystem and wider biometrics services.

BioEurope Autumn 2019 – Hamburg, Germany

Lester and Polly attended BioEurope which was a very busy 3 days at the Hamburg Messe conference centre. With a focus on licencing opportunities and collaborations, visitors to our exhibition stand were keen to learn more about how SQN can facilitate clinical development. Our EDC system, SQN Health EDC, was at the centre of most discussions, in particular our unique functionality enabling image media upload.

Overall the event was a success, with a number of partnering meetings, a huge amount of chocolate consumed and our Chocoholic’s Survival kit which was won by Andrew Sassine from Arcturus Therapeutics. Thank you to everyone we met in Hamburg and we look forward to seeing you again next year.

World Orphan Drug Congress – Barcelona, Spain

Karen and Shiyan attended a more specific and focussed conference at the Hotel Sofia in Barcelona, tackling challenges in Orphan Drug studies and the processes/technologies we can implement to assist. SQN’s ePRO application was the hot topic of discussion. With patient recruitment often quite difficult and trial participation a huge disruption to patients who may be far from their study site, the ability to collect data remotely is key to mitigate against disruption whilst improving our understanding of the patient’s condition as data is collected.

The conference provided thought provoking ideas both from sponsors and other vendors to how we approach rare diseases and orphan drug trials, from preclinical to clinical development.

The winner of our Chocoholic’s Survival Kit was Lesley Harrison from AKU Society. As Lesley had already left the conference at the time of the draw, Nick Sireau, CEO of AKU Society was on hand to collect on her behalf. AKU will be using the prize as a raffle prize in their upcoming AKU Patient Workshop.

Thank you to all those we spoke to at the conference and took part in our prize draw. We look forward to seeing you again in 2020 with many more exciting announcements SQN will be sharing in the New Year.
